Born in Palermo (Italy). Terzo had his first bassoon lessons at the age of only seven.
1990
The young artist’s musical talent has already been acclaimed with several prizes. He won the Concorso Nazionale di Musica da Camera in Grosseto and the Audience Award for the best baroque music performance at the Concorso Nazionale Nuovi Orizzonti in Arezzo.
1st prize at the International Chamber Music Competition
Won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Grosseto in 2003.
2003
1st prize at the Città di Chieri (Turin) International Bassoon Competition
In 2004, he won first prize at the Città di Chieri (Turin) International Bassoon Competition, followed by another first prize at the prestigious International Bassoon Competition in Pesaro two years later.
2004
In addition to performing solos in bassoon concertos by Vivaldi, Mozart, Hummel, Weber and Jolivet and two sinfonia concertante by Mozart (Salzburg Festival) and Haydn, Riccardo Terzo also very frequently works as a chamber music artist. He participates in the International Chamber Music Festival in Zagreb, the Telavi Festival in Georgia, and the Mattseer Diabelli Summer Festival, and plays with chamber music associations such as the Salzburg Orchestra Soloists, the Salzburg Bassoon Trio and the Austrian Ensemble for New Music. His chamber music partners include internationally renowned artists such as Szalbocs Zempleni, Chen Alevi, Susanne Yoko Henkel and Jing Zhao.
1st prize at the International Bassoon Competition in Pesaro
Riccardo Terzo wins 1st prize in the Gioacchino Rossini International Bassoon Competition in Pesaro. In 2006, he also completed his studies with honours in Livorno.

Gustav Mahler Orchestra Academy
Riccardo Terzo plays at the Gustav Mahler Orchestra Academy and is awarded an audition for the GMYO (Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra) in the same year.
2009
Solo bassoonist with the Mozarteum Orchestra
Terzo begins playing as a solo bassoonist with the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg.
2010
Masters degree from the University of Salzburg
Terzo is awarded a Masters degree by Marco Postinghel at the University of Salzburg Mozarteum.
2012
Riccardo Terzo wins the famous IDRS competition
Terzo wins the famous IDRS (International Double Reed Society) Competition in the United States.
2016
Terzo also lectures as a professor at the University of Linz in the 2014/2015 summer semester.
Fox Productions Bassoon Artist
Since 2017, Riccardo Terzo has been working as a bassoon artist for the renowned Fox Productions American bassoon company.
2017
Opening concert at the renowned Mozart Festival
In February 2020, Terzo and the Mozarteum Orchestra will be performing Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto at the opening of the renowned Mozart Festival in Salzburg.
